Erskine Stewart Melville Schools Junior School are currently recruiting for a range of After School and Holiday Club Practitioner positions, to join the E-Plus Department on a permanent basis. The positions will be available from March 2026 (subject to satisfactory pre‑employment checks).
Job Details
- Position(s): 1 After School Club Practitioner (9 hours per week, term‑time only) and 2 After School Club & Holiday Club Practitioners (15 hours per week, term‑time with holiday cover)
- Location: Edinburgh (Queensferry Road or Ravelston site)
- Contract Type: Part Time – Term Time plus some school holiday cover
- Salary: After School Club Practitioner – £5,208 to £5,892; After School Club & Holiday Practitioner – £10,030 to £11,348 (pro‑rata)

Responsibilities
The role provides full care for children attending the After School Club and Holiday Club, ensuring a safe, engaging, and fun environment. Key duties include:
- Supervising and interacting with children
- Planning and preparing activities
- Maintaining a safe and tidy play area
- Liaising with parents
- Contributing to activity planning
- Supervising children during outings
Hours will be between 1:30pm and 6:00pm or 3:00pm and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday during term time and on a rota basis during holiday periods. A degree of flexibility is required.
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will be a kind, enthusiastic, and responsible individual who prioritises the interests of children and works well within a team. They will have experience working with children, possess or be willing to work towards a recognised childcare qualification, and demonstrate strong organisational skills.
Eligibility
ESMS is unable to sponsor the employment of international workers in this role. International applicants will therefore be unable to apply for and secure a Skilled Worker visa. The successful candidate must have an alternative right to work in the UK.
