eSmart Networks is seeking a motivated Electrical Design Technician to support the Senior Design Engineer in the successful delivery of electricity infrastructure projects. From budget design to operational handover, you will help ensure designs are technically robust, commercially compliant, and delivered within agreed timescales. This role combines technical design work with strong customer service, commercial awareness, and collaborative team support.
Responsibilities
- Assist in delivering and reviewing electricity infrastructure designs, from budget mark-up through to successful project delivery.
- Ensure all designs comply with legislation, industry standards, utility specifications, and HSEQ requirements.
- Provide full design support to Clients, Business Development, Technical, and Operations teams.
- Obtain relevant IDNO and DNO approvals and contribute to coordination with external stakeholders.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and support the technical team in meeting business targets.
Experience & Knowledge
- Pre-construction and feasibility knowledge within the utilities sector preferred.
- Experience in design or planning of DNO/IDNO networks and substations is advantageous.
- Strong coordination skills and ability to work effectively across teams.
- Knowledge of DNO diversion impacts, ENA G81, NERS, and CDM regulations.
- Awareness of continuous improvement practices and the impact of customer service on business growth.
- Strong communication, technical reporting, and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive, motivated, and target-driven, with commitment to milestone dates and timescales.
- Competent in MS Office, AutoCAD, and other design software.
- Interest in Engineering with the ambition to develop into a qualified Engineer.
