We are opening a new SEN school in Doncaster in September 2026 and are seeking an Assistant Psychologist to support vulnerable young people aged 8 to 18 with SEND and SEMH needs. The role involves therapeutic work, assessment, intervention planning and collaboration with teachers and other staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with teachers and other school staff to implement advice provided through educational psychology assessments
  • Plan and deliver outcome-focused interventions for individual children or groups who may be vulnerable and/or have additional needs within the school
  • Write summary reports and intervention impact assessments
  • Assist in research and evaluation work, including development of evaluation methods and data collection, and contribute to summary reports
  • Plan project work or development work in schools and other educational settings
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of training in areas of psychology relevant to educational and child psychology
  • Lead the development of educational and psychological resources and materials
  • Take a lead role in service evaluation work including development of evaluation methods, data collection and reporting mechanisms
  • Perform other ad-hoc administrative duties related to the efficient running of the organisation
  • Ensure safeguarding of all young people underpins every decision made
  • Have knowledge of safeguarding and risk in relation to working with children and young people
  • Maintain good professional practice

Key Skills and Requirements

  • A BPS accredited psychology degree (essential)
  • A minimum of 12 months post-graduation experience
  • Training or a further qualification in Educational Psychology (desirable)
  • Training in trauma-informed practice (desirable)
  • Demonstrable experience of working in UK-based SEND/SEMH education or a similar care or health environment (essential)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, particularly making complex information meaningful
  • Motivation and passion regarding care for children who have experienced trauma
  • A full UK driving licence, access to your own vehicle and willingness to travel offsite
