This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the senior team of our highly sought after, specialist provision supporting vulnerable young people aged 7 to 18 years who have SEND and SEMH needs.

The role:

• As a SEN Teacher and subject lead, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, engaging lessons tailored to individual needs.
• Plan and deliver lessons across the school's English department.
• Be responsible for upskilling and training staff.
• Ensure baseline is completed.
• Provide phonics and literacy intervention.
• Have oversight of reading strategies.
• Support pupils’ academic and personal development through Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
• Contribute to EHCP reviews and PEP meetings.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Work closely with colleagues, families, and external agencies.
• Promote safeguarding and wellbeing at all times.

Requirements for a SEN Lead Teacher:

• Essential:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree.
• A minimum of 2 years post graduation experience.
• Strong understanding of SEND and SEMH.
• Knowledge of assessment frameworks and progress tracking.
• Excellent behaviour management and inclusive teaching strategies.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
• Desirable:
• Subject/Department leader experience (or acting leadership experience).
• Experience in teaching across alternative subjects (and a willingness to support other departments as the team grows).
