Location: Ditton Priors, near Bridgnorth
Contract: full time, permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm
Salary: £37,137 to £43,194 (depending on experience)

Esland Shropshire School is a growing specialist provision supporting children and young people aged 8–18 with SEND and SEMH needs.

The role:

As a SEN Teacher, you will play a key part in delivering meaningful, well‑planned learning that places relationships, emotional safety and progress at its heart.

You will be supported to:

Plan and deliver engaging lessons across core subjects, tailored to individual needs
Work with Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) to support both academic and personal development
Contribute to EHCP reviews and PEP meetings with clear leadership guidance
Create a calm, safe and inclusive classroom environment
Work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral staff, families and external professionals
Promote safeguarding and pupil wellbeing, with strong systems and senior support in place

Requirements for a SEN Teacher:

Essential:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree
Completion of ECT period
Experience teaching across a range of keys stages and subjects (desirable)
An understanding of SEND, particularly SEMH
Strong inclusive teaching and behaviour‑support strategies
A clear commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare

Desirable:

A qualification or degree in psychology
A higher qualification or equivalent

You will be someone who:

Has high expectations, balanced with empathy and realism
Communicates well and works positively as part of a team
Is committed to learning, development and good practice
Is motivated by making a difference, not ticking boxes
