  • Hours: Full time (core hours 8:30 am–4:40 pm, Monday–Friday)

  • Salary: up to £41,137 per year (depending on experience and qualifications) plus £3,000 subject‑lead allowance

This position is part of Esland’s new SEN school opening in September 2026, supporting vulnerable young people aged 8–18 with SEND and SEMH needs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver lessons across core subjects, with a particular emphasis on English
  • Support pupils’ academic and personal development through Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
  • Contribute to EHCP reviews and PEP meetings
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Work closely with colleagues, families, and external agencies
  • Promote safeguarding and wellbeing at all times

Requirements

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree
  • A minimum of 2 years post‑graduation experience
  • Strong understanding of SEND and SEMH
  • Knowledge of assessment frameworks and progress tracking
  • Excellent behaviour management and inclusive teaching strategies
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare

Desirable:

  • Subject/department leader experience (or acting leadership experience)
  • Experience teaching across alternative subjects and willingness to support other departments as the team grows
