We are looking for an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing multidisciplinary team delivering projects across the UK water industry. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong geotechnical and civil engineering experience who enjoys solving complex ground engineering challenges, developing practical design solutions and supporting the development of junior engineers. Importantly, we are looking for someone with experience working within the UK regulated water industry, with an understanding of the standards, delivery environment and technical challenges associated with water infrastructure projects.
You will play a key role in delivering geotechnical and civil engineering design across projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to produce safe, efficient, and buildable solutions.
The RoleAs a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will support the delivery of geotechnical and civil engineering design across a range of water sector projects. Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing design deliverables that meet safety, quality and regulatory requirements
- Preparing geotechnical and civil engineering calculations, drawings and technical documentation
- Producing and reviewing ground investigation (GI) specifications, interpretive reports and design reports
- Developing practical and efficient design solutions from project scopes, site information and investigation data
- Directing and supporting CAD technicians, junior engineers and graduates
- Preparing design investigations, reports and technical specifications
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant technical standards, professional guidance and client requirements
- Ensuring project design changes are properly implemented and recorded
- Working in accordance with formal design processes and procedures
- Estimating design hours and supporting project planning
- Attending and presenting at IDC, KM7 and other design review meetings
We are looking for a technically capable engineer with strong geotechnical understanding and proven experience delivering projects within the UK water sector.
Essential- Around 10 years’ relevant design experience in geotechnical and/or civil engineering
- Experience working within the UK regulated water industry
- Strong geotechnical capability, including:
- Preparing GI specifications
- Producing interpretive reports
- Developing geotechnical design reports
- Degree or HND in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong IT and digital engineering capability
- Registered with a professional engineering institution and working towards chartership
- Experience working within regulated infrastructure sectors
- Chartered Engineer status
- Experience in both geotechnical and civil engineering design
- Experience within the rail sector
- Awareness of ground investigation and construction methods/materials
- Knowledge of engineering drawing practices
