An exciting opportunity to learn how luxury womenswear is really made.
We are looking for a hands-on, enthusiastic and highly motivated Design & Production Assistant to join our small team within an established luxury womenswear brand.
Working closely with our Creative Director, Senior Garment Technologist and Production Manager, you will gain genuine experience across the complete journey of a garment – from design and fabric selection through development, sampling and into production.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone at the beginning of their fashion career who is really keen to learn and wants to develop practical and technical skills within a luxury environment.
What makes this role different?
You won't be sitting behind a desk all day.
You will be working hands-on with beautiful fabrics, trims, samples and garments, supporting the workroom and production process and learning directly from an experienced Senior Garment Technologist.
You will be introduced to Gerber and learn simple, practical tasks, alongside developing your understanding of garment technology, construction and production.
You will also gain experience in:
- Fabric and trim management
- Sample development and QC
- Technical packs and specifications
- BOMs and production preparation
- Working with CMT factories
- Sealing styles and reviewing PPS samples
- Photoshoot preparation
- The full critical path from design through to production
Who are we looking for?
This role could suit someone who has some fashion experience already – potentially their second job – and is now looking for the opportunity to learn and progress.
You might have experience working in a workroom, atelier or CMT environment, or have studied fashion, garment technology or a related subject.
Most importantly, you will:
- Have a genuine passion for fabrics, garments and how things are made
- Be practical and happy with a physical, hands-on role
- Be curious and genuinely keen to learn
- Have a strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Be organised, accurate and detail-focused
- Enjoy working within a very small team
- Be willing to get stuck in and help wherever needed
- Ideally have some experience with Adobe Illustrator / Creative Suite and Excel
The opportunity
This is a chance to work closely with experienced professionals in a small luxury womenswear business, where you will see and learn the complete process rather than just one small part of it.
If you're passionate about fashion, fabrics and making beautiful clothes — and you're looking for somewhere you can learn, contribute and develop real technical skills — we'd love to hear from you.
Location: SW10, London
Working pattern: On-site
Salary: London Living Wage
- Interview process: Initial telephone/video interview, followed by an on-site interview with our Senior Garment Technologist and Production Manager.
