Overview
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Digital Design Lead / BIM Manager to oversee the strategic development, implementation, and maintenance of CAD and BIM standards across the Stantec Energy & Resources UK business. This role will lead the creation, governance, and continuous improvement of multi-platform design standards, ensuring consistency and quality across a wide range of engineering disciplines and software environments.
Based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK, this role will be hands-on in managing and coordinating BIM/CAD modelling work tasks between UK teams and our offshore design centre in Pune, with the flexibility to undertake model authoring when required. The successful candidate will lead a team of 3D BIM modellers and ensure the accuracy, consistency, and efficiency of 3D modelling workflows using Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D, Inventor, and other platforms.
This position supports complex projects across Waterpower & Dams, Transmission & Distribution, Renewable Energy, Nuclear, Waste & Generation, and Minerals & Resources, delivering high-quality BIM outputs aligned with project requirements, client expectations, and industry standards.
We are committed to developing BIM capabilities across Information Management and 3D Modelling in line with ISO 19650.
As a Senior Digital Design Lead / BIM Manager, you will support the team across the UK and international regions, including global design centres. You should be passionate about BIM and able to influence and support others in adopting digital delivery practices.
You will advocate for digital delivery, collaborating with multi-disciplinary engineers in local and remote offices and supporting the bid, planning & mobilisation, delivery and close stages from a BIM perspective.
You will develop the BIM Execution Plan and subsequent Master Information Delivery Plans and Task Information Delivery Plans, ensuring alignment with the Exchange Information Requirements. You will work with the Information Management team to establish Common Data Environments, standards and procedures to support digital delivery in accordance with ISO 19650.
You will oversee planning and managing document/information management systems with review and approval workflows, while supporting the design and modelling team through the delivery phase with guidance and checks on progress, quality and compliance.

About You
- Ideally a degree in an Engineering, Architecture or related subject with experience across a range of projects in different sectors; energy/renewable project experience is useful.
- Experience in Common Data Environments using data management systems such as ACC/BIM360 and/or ProjectWise.
- Strong experience in project delivery in accordance with ISO 19560.
- Understanding of benefits of different CDEs to support collaboration and information management with experience using various client platforms.
- Extensive experience in 3D design using Autodesk and Bentley products.
- Experience in generating and using BIM Execution Plans.
- Understanding of computational and parametric design, or interest to develop skills in this area.
- Experience in mentoring junior staff.
- Strong communication skills adaptable to Clients, Leadership, UK and overseas teams.
