Newington Ward is a busy Acute medical admissions unit for patients over 75 years old, frail and needing short stay care. We are a 28 bedded unit with a multi‑disciplinary team working to assess, treat and discharge patients within 5‑9 days.

We are looking for experienced Registered Nurses to join our team. You will share your knowledge and experience with the ward; you will need to be well‑motivated and committed to high standards of patient care and to your personal professional development. Whether you are just starting out on your nursing career, looking for a change of job, working in a nursing home or even returning to practice, we would welcome the opportunity to meet with you.

Caring for short stay frailty patients ensures a varied role where staff can learn specialty care for those who may have multiple medical conditions, are on multiple medications and often require specialist support at home or in their care homes. Staff will also support patients who are acutely unwell and who may have poor recognition (dementia & delirium), difficulty in walking, falls and frailty.

In return for your hard work and dedication, East Sussex Healthcare Trust offers excellent opportunities for career progression. We also work closely with the University of Brighton and offer valuable management placements for nursing students and professional development as well as a personal induction programme.

A wide range of staff benefits are available to our staff including staff development, enrolment in the NHS pension scheme, auto‑enrolment to our Temporary Workforce Service, access to onsite nurseries, staff restaurants and accommodation. In addition to an internal Occupational Health department, all staff also have access to free psychological support through our confidential Employee Assistance Programme. Onsite parking is available from only £50 a year.

There has never been a better time to join East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, submit your application today. If you have any questions about this position please do not hesitate to contact us.
