We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Senior Biomedical Scientist to work in the Biochemistry Department at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.
Responsibilities
- Support the Deputy Lead Biomedical Scientist in managing and overseeing all aspects of the service day-to-day.
- Undertake day-to-day management tasks and, if required, work at the Eastbourne DGH site when necessary.
- Demonstrate excellent technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills on Roche 8000 modular analysers (upgrade to Cobas Pro), Sebia Capilarys and Hydrasis analysers, and support implementation of any new equipment.
- Show a keen interest in departmental IT systems and participate in the management of current systems and the implementation of future systems.
- Show knowledge of validation and verification processes and oversee the introduction of new or updated methods within the department.
- Maintain competencies in all areas and provide out-of-hours cover as required for staff shortages, sickness, or other absences in the short or medium term.
- Support the transition to a 24/7, 7‑day extended day routine service provision for Blood Sciences.
Qualifications
- Post-registration level experience in Quality Management and management of IQC/EQA.
- Hold an IBMS Specialist Portfolio (or equivalent) and demonstrate experience from working at Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Band 6) level in the current role.
- Knowledge and experience with Roche, Cobas, Sebia, and Hydrasis analysers, and ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Experience in validating and verifying laboratory methods and processes.
- Ability to manage or support IT systems within a laboratory setting.
- Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills.
