An amazing opportunity has arisen to work with a dynamic forward‐thinking diabetes and endocrinology team at East Sussex NHS Trust. Our team is expanding and we are looking to recruit a Band 7 Diabetes Specialist Nurse who is dynamic and enthusiastic about enhancing the quality of diabetes care.
Responsibilities
- The post‐holder will manage an own caseload of patients, primarily delivering specialist care to patients with diabetes condition on an outpatient basis alongside supporting the in‐patient services.
- The role involves initiating therapies with a non‐medical prescriber qualification, delivering education sessions to staff and patients, managing patients with complex Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, and delivering diabetes technology such as insulin pumps and CGMs.
- The role requires assessment, counselling and teaching skills, and the ability to demonstrate additional learning in diabetes.
- In conjunction with other members of the Diabetes & Endocrinology Team, provide autonomous specialist diabetes care to adults and young people attending the Diabetes Clinics using advanced clinical skills and knowledge of the speciality.
- Operate with a high degree of autonomy whilst working closely and collaboratively with senior medical and nursing colleagues and supporting junior members.
- Support implementation of changes in practice and work collaboratively across disciplines and agencies.
Qualifications
- Band 7 Diabetes Specialist Nurse with experience in care of people with diabetes.
- Essential – Non‐Medical prescriber qualification.
- Proven clinical expertise, clinical leadership and management.
- Commitment to further learning and development.
