An amazing opportunity has arisen to work with a dynamic forward-thinking diabetes and endocrinology team at East Sussex NHS Trust. Our team is expanding and we are looking to recruit a Band 7 Diabetes Specialist Nurse who is dynamic and enthusiastic about enhancing the quality of diabetes care. The successful candidate will manage their own caseload of patients, primarily delivering specialist care to patients with diabetes conditions on an outpatient basis while also supporting the in-patient services.

Experience in the care of people with diabetes is essential. The post holder should be able to initiate therapies with a Non-Medical prescriber qualification as essential. The role also involves delivering education sessions to staff and patients whilst enhancing their own skills with the management of patients with complex Type 2 and Type 1 diabetes. The role requires involvement in diabetes technology, delivering Insulin Pumps and CGMs, among others.

The successful applicant will need to become proficient in assessment, counselling, and teaching skills. The ability to demonstrate additional learning in diabetes is essential, and a commitment to further learning and development is desirable. In conjunction with other members of the Diabetes & Endocrinology Team, the post-holder will provide autonomous specialist diabetes care to adults and young people who attend the Diabetes Clinics using advanced clinical skills and knowledge of the specialty.

The post-holder will be a source of expertise and operate with a high degree of autonomy while working closely and collaboratively with senior medical and nursing colleagues, as well as supporting the junior members of the team. Proven clinical expertise, clinical leadership, and management are essential. You must be able to support the implementation of changes in practice and have the ability to work collaboratively at all levels and across disciplines and agencies.

The patient will be at the centre of everything you do while demonstrating a supportive, person-centred, and motivational approach with a 'can-do' attitude. You will be working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary teams dedicated to ensuring high-quality care for people with diabetes conditions in ESHT.

A wide range of staff benefits are available, including staff development, enrolment in the NHS pension scheme, auto-enrolment to our Temporary Workforce Service, access to onsite nurseries, staff restaurants, and accommodation.
