To work in the Portering Department at Conquest Hospital on an alternating shift pattern. Shift schedule: Monday to Sunday 08:00‑16:00 and 14:30‑00:00 on an alternating pattern. Additional training will include work in the waste department to cover shifts as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Move patients and escort patients and visitors.
  • Perform mortuary duties: transport bodies to the mortuary as required, arrange access to the mortuary for appropriate persons, and assist ambulance crews or contracted funeral directors during admission.
  • Deliver internal specimens, theatre/x‑ray lists.
  • Maintain patient‑related equipment, report defects to the Duty Team Leader.
  • Move furniture and other equipment around the hospital as needed.
  • Deliver empty/full medical gas cylinders and handle manifold rooms and piped gas systems.
  • Report or attend to any defects with the medical gas supply.
  • Respond to emergency situations: cardiac arrest/Lucas machine, major incident, Hazchem and CBRN incidents, traumas, helicopter landings, fire alarms, patient collapse.
