An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Care of the Elderly team at Litlington Ward Eastbourne District General Hospital. The Doctors’ Assistant will work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting the care of frail older patients, contributing to timely assessment, treatment, and discharge planning. The role involves both clinical and administrative support to medical staff, helping to improve patient flow and experience.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with doctors, nurses, and therapists, providing excellent communication, organisation, and prioritisation.
- Support doctors in inpatient/ward activities, including clinical and administrative competencies.
- Participate in the delivery of patient care under the supervision of Doctors and a supervising Consultant body.
- Operate with a degree of autonomy, using judgement and initiative, supported by relevant training.
- Assist in patient assessment, treatment, and discharge planning without involvement in medication transcription or prescription.
- Potentially be embedded with specific medical staff or service leads attached to Litlington EDGH.
- Contribute to the internal rota, working shifts to meet service needs, including Saturdays, Sundays, and bank holidays if required.
