The purpose of this post is to ensure provision of sufficient high-quality clinical placements for all pre‑registration allied health professions (AHPs) within the Trust, representing nine professions currently working in ESHT. By achieving sufficient high‑quality placements, this role will enable safe, effective, compassionate care to be delivered by student AHPs and ensure a sustainable AHP workforce that can meet changing needs in East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust – Acute and Community Trust.
Responsibilities:
- Provide sufficient high‑quality clinical placements for all pre‑registration allied health professions.
- Support managers and Professional Development Leads, acting as a link between the Trust, higher education institutions (HEIs), and the Sussex Integrated Care Service AHP Faculty.
- Scope AHP practice education and collaborate with colleagues to explore new ways of expanding placements, including digital and virtual solutions and the use of the CLiP coaching model (Collaborative Learning in Practice).
- Support colleagues within placement settings to ensure they are prepared and supported, facilitating relationships between the Trust and HEIs.
- Promote AHP placements within the Trust and support multidisciplinary team working from within Integrated Education.
- Act as a role model and mentor to support the delivery of a high‑quality evidence‑based learning environment that meets student needs and the requirements of NHS England and NHS Improvement.
- Support the management of distressing circumstances relating to students, trainees and mentors (e.g., post‑serious incidents and complaints).
- Contribute to policy and practice changes arising from national policy and guidance, audits, quality assurance reviews, and complaints.
- Be responsible for quality monitoring of placement activity in relation to professional bodies and report required data to the AHP student administrator.
- Liaise with HEIs regarding learning placement audits and other quality audits as appropriate.
