This role is based at Rodborough, an inclusive school with a Cullum Centre, a Specialist Resource designed to support autistic students capable of achieving at least 5 GCSEs within a mainstream provision. Rodborough Learning Support Assistants work across SEND/Cullum for varying hours per week. We strive to ensure that every student is valued, can actively engage in the curriculum and take part in the broader life of the school. We aim to help students acquire skills which will enable them to enjoy independence and become life-long learners. We aim to enable young people to make the best possible progress and provide flexible support and advice for all children experiencing barriers to learning.
This role is varied and will include mainstream lesson support, working with specific students across the curriculum, running small groups, and providing individual support. In addition to academic support, all Learning Mentors are keyworkers and provide an invaluable friendly ear for all those children who sometimes require a sympathetic listener to boost morale. The role includes an element of admin, updating student records and liaising with all stakeholders (staff, parents, and students).
Qualifications: 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (grade 4-9) or equivalent essential.
Safeguarding Information: We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks. We recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children. We make every effort to provide a safe and welcoming environment underpinned by a culture of openness where both children and adults feel secure, able to talk and believe that they are being listened to. We maintain an attitude of it could happen here where safeguarding is concerned.
