ESG Drysdale is seeking a skilled and motivated Multi‑Skilled Engineer to join our engineering team at our Drysdale Quarry packing facility in Cockburnspath, Scottish Borders. As part of the engineering team, you will be responsible for carrying out both reactive and planned preventative maintenance on a wide range of factory machinery and equipment. You will also play an active role in continuous improvement initiatives, site projects, and the installation of new equipment. This is a varied and hands‑on role requiring both mechanical and electrical fault‑finding skills across vegetable washing, grading, and packing machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out reactive maintenance and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults efficiently.
- Support continuous improvement projects to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
- Assist with machinery installations and site development projects.
- Work collaboratively with production and engineering colleagues to minimise downtime and maximise operational efficiency.
About You
- A recognised qualification as a Multi‑Skilled Engineer, with a strong electrical background.
- Previous experience within a food manufacturing or processing environment.
- An electrical qualification and/or 18th Edition certification (desirable).
- Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving abilities.
- A proactive approach with excellent communication skills.
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to continuous development.
Working Hours
- 4‑on, 4‑off shift pattern.
- Standard day shift: 6:00am – 6:00pm.
- A back shift operates during autumn, winter and spring (excluding summer): 12:00pm – 12:00am.
- For approximately three weeks each December, the back shift changes to nights, resulting in one period of night shift working per year.
Salary & Benefits
- Starting salary of £42,500 per annum, increasing up to £52,500 per annum upon successful completion of our in‑house training and development programme.
- 21.5 days annual leave per year (236.5 hours).
