ESD are working with a well-established HVAC and commissioning contractor that is launching a dedicated Water Hygiene division as a new arm of the business. This is a senior leadership role for an experienced Operations Director to build, structure, and lead the water hygiene operation from the ground up, while leveraging the existing group’s systems, reputation, and client base.
The successful candidate will take full responsibility for operational delivery, compliance, team development, and profitability of the water hygiene division, with a clear mandate to scale the business across the South East and beyond.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the set-up and day-to-day operations of the Water Hygiene division
- Develop and implement operational processes, procedures, and KPIs
- Ensure full compliance with ACOP L8, HSG274, HTM 04-01, and relevant water hygiene legislation
- Recruit, manage, and develop engineers, supervisors, and office support staff
- Oversee service delivery across: Tank inspections and cleaning, Sampling and risk assessments
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers where required
- Work closely with the commercial and sales teams to support growth, pricing, and tendering
- Take ownership of operational budgets, margins, and performance reporting
- Drive a strong health & safety culture across the division
- Support cross-selling opportunities with existing HVAC and commissioning clients
- Proven experience in a senior operational role within Water Hygiene
- Strong working knowledge of UK water hygiene legislation and best practice
- Experience scaling or setting up a new division or business unit is highly desirable
- Commercially astute, with a clear understanding of margins, utilisation, and cost control
- Confident leader with the ability to build teams and systems from scratch
- Comfortable operating at board level and influencing business strategy
- Key leadership role with autonomy to shape and grow a new business unit
