ESD Recruitment are supporting a long-established construction group in hiring a Trainee Health & Safety Manager to join their growing team. Role Purpose

The successful candidate will work closely with the Health & Safety Manager to support the implementation of safety systems, carry out audits and inspections, and help drive a positive H&S culture across all sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with maintaining and improving the company’s Health & Safety Management System.
• Support site teams in ensuring compliance with UK H&S legislation and CDM Regulations.
• Carry out site safety inspections and audits, producing clear reports and supporting actions.
• Help manage incident and near-miss reporting, including basic investigations.
• Assist in preparing RAMS, risk assessments and toolbox talks.
• Support delivery of H&S inductions and safety briefings for site staff and subcontractors.
• Maintain accurate H&S documentation, registers and weekly reports.
• Promote safe working practices and help embed a strong safety culture across all projects.
• Attend meetings with project teams and contribute to safety planning and reviews.

Essential:

• Some construction or site experience (labourer, trainee supervisor, administrator, or similar).
• Basic understanding of H&S legislation and an interest in developing further.
• Strong organisation and communication skills.
• Confident working across multiple sites and engaging with all levels of staff.
• Full UK driving licence.
