ESD are currently representing a well-established main contractor delivering projects ranging from £50k up to circa £20m. The business predominantly operates within the public sector, covering Education, Social Housing, Civic, Entertainment, Healthcare, Leisure, and Commercial sectors. The team is made up of ex–Tier 1 contractor professionals and directors, offering a high-quality, professional service with a personal approach. They are known for streamlining construction processes through the adoption of Modern Methods of Construction wherever possible.

Role Overview

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured and upcoming work, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join the team. You will play a key role in pricing and securing projects, working closely with the pre-construction and commercial teams to deliver accurate and competitive tenders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for a range of construction projects
  • Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
  • Take-offs and pricing of materials, labour, and subcontract packages
  • Obtain and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations
  • Identify risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving solutions
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal teams throughout the tender process
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of tender returns and supporting documents
  • Maintain strong relationships with supply chain partners
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Estimator within a main contractor environment
  • Experience working on projects across public sector and/or commercial sectors
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and pricing
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office
  • Experience working on projects up to £20m
  • Exposure to Modern Methods of Construction (MMC)
  • Relevant construction or commercial qualification
