The Role

Our client is seeking an Assistant MEP Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a major data centre development in East London. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within the building services sector, working alongside experienced commercial professionals on a technically complex, high-value project. You will support the commercial management of the mechanical and electrical packages from procurement through to final account, helping to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the commercial management of mechanical and electrical packages on a data centre project
  • Supporting the preparation of subcontractor packages, tender analysis and procurement
  • Assisting with the preparation and submission of valuations and applications for payment
  • Monitoring project costs and helping maintain accurate cost reports
  • Assisting with the assessment and negotiation of subcontractor variations and final accounts
  • Supporting the preparation of monthly cost/value reconciliations
  • Liaising with project managers, engineers and site teams to ensure commercial processes run efficiently
  • Ensuring all commercial activities comply with contractual requirements

Qualifications

  • Degree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (or working towards)
  • Some experience within MEP, building services or construction (placement, graduate role or assistant level)
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team on a fast-paced project environment
