Do you have a genuine passion for leading and nurturing young learners, coupled with proven experience managing a nursery effectively? WMC Training is seeking a dedicated Nursery Apprentice to join the professional, rewarding, and supportive FOREST NURSERY SCHOOL at Wickford, SS11 8UD.

The ideal candidate will bring previous experience working with children, a genuine interest in developing the talent of younger generations, and a strong desire to make a difference in children's lives. Must have experience working at the nursery setting before or around children.

You will be a collaborative team member, equally capable of taking initiative, and adept at planning enriching activities.

Duties:

  • Support fellow educators/practitioners to deliver the setting’s curriculum and standard of practice.
  • Work towards an early years qualification with support from the setting’s staff and training provider.
  • Seek support from members of the team to assist your learning.
  • Work closely with children aged 0-5 years old, looking after their daily needs such as feeding, nappy changing and toileting.
  • Work as part of a team to deliver and meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage for all children.
  • Plan, provide and support age-appropriate play opportunities in line with the curriculum and individual needs of the children in your care.
  • Ensure the safeguarding and welfare of all children in your care.
  • Observe, assess and record children’s learning and development progress.
  • Provide an enabling environment that meets the needs of each unique individual child.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with parents/carers.
  • Adhere to and follow the setting’s policies and procedures.
  • Attend regular team meetings.
  • Ensure standards of health and safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
  • Attend additional training events and meetings as identified by the Setting Manager for training requirements.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Must have prior nursery experience or experience working around children.
  • Willing to learn a qualification.
  • Ability to write clear objective observation.
  • Commitment to complete a childcare qualification.
