Level 2 Childcare Apprenticeship at Banana Moon Day Nursery, Chipping Norton. Our nursery provides a caring, loving and secure environment for children aged 0 to 5 years.

Core Duties (Daily Tasks)

  • Support children’s care and supervision
  • Help look after children aged 0–5 in a safe, secure environment
  • Assist with feeding, toileting, nappy changing, and general hygiene
  • Create a safe and welcoming environment
  • Keep rooms clean, tidy, and organised
  • Follow health & safety and safeguarding procedures
  • Assist with activities and play
  • Help set up and supervise play‑based learning activities
  • Encourage children to explore, play, and learn through fun experiences

Supporting Learning & Development

  • Help children develop social, emotional, and physical skills through play
  • Support planned activities led by qualified staff
  • Encourage communication, sharing, and independence
  • Observe children informally and report anything important to senior staff

Basic Responsibilities

  • Helping prepare snacks/meals and cleaning up afterwards
  • Setting up toys, resources, and outdoor play areas
  • Supporting routines (nap time, transitions, outdoor play)
  • Following nursery policies and staff guidance
  • Learning on the job and possibly working towards a qualification

Safeguarding & Professional Expectations

  • Always ensure children’s safety and wellbeing
  • Follow safeguarding and nursery policies at all times
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Be reliable, patient, and attentive

Requirements

  • Preferably have GCSE grades A*-C or 4-9 in Maths and English, or equivalent or willing to work towards them

Hours

Banana Moon Day Nursery is open from 7:30am – 6:30pm Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will be required to work 30 – 40 hours per week.
