Power Applications Systems Engineer – ESCO Maritime Solutions
Overview

Responsibilities
- Operate as the go-to systems engineer across multiple projects, liaising with multiple stakeholders to perform systems engineering tasks.
- Act as a generalist bridging gaps between project members and stakeholders from different disciplines and specialisms.
- Design how systems operate in terms of power on, modes of operation, self-test, etc.
- Champion systems engineering as a set of tools to drive practical development and deployment of products to satisfy end customers’ needs.
- Collect, scrutinise, organise and challenge customer requirements.
- Interact with internal and external customers to resolve design choices and ambiguities.
- Define interfaces and handover points on the project.
- Drive reuse, similarity and maximising previously developed products/items.
- Lead systems engineering activities such as systems architecture, interface development, requirements management, with a pragmatic focus.
- Perform system safety analysis.
- Participate in system validation and verification and ensure compliance with requirements.
- Tailor, modify or create processes to drive repeatable value-adding activities.
Scope / Dimensions
- Operate as the go-to systems engineer across multiple projects, liaising with multiple stakeholders to perform systems engineering tasks.
- Operate as part of a cross-functional team generating shared understanding.
Financial Responsibilities
- Support delivery of assigned scope of work within agreed schedule and budget limits.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills And Experience
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic / Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- A strong track record of applying engineering processes and governance to product development cycles.
- Experience of systems engineering lifecycle deliverables including requirements, validation evidence, interface definition, configuration and change artefacts, safety analysis, validation and verification items.
- Familiarity with power electronics is beneficial, but expertise in systems engineering is essential.
- Experience of embedded software operation within systems to be able to decompose requirements appropriately.
Skills
- An awareness of systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle and experience of delivering.
- Familiarity with MBSE and traditional requirements development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Systems testing experience.
- Experience of power systems.
- Experience with JAMA, DOORS, Polarion or similar requirements management tools.
- Experience working with agile approaches such as sprints, scrums and using Jira or similar for self-organisation.
Note: All candidates must be eligible to achieve the relevant security vetting level applicable to the role.
