Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical interface between internal engineering teams and external suppliers to ensure components are manufacturable and compliant with design and technical flow down requirements.
  • Visit supplier sites to provide hands-on technical support, particularly in resolving complex manufacturing issues or when suppliers are underperforming.
  • Work closely with the Quality team to drive timely root cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Use your knowledge of APQP, PFMEA, and PPAP to shape product definition and production processes, supporting Procurement and ensuring supplier adherence to quality requirements.
  • Work closely with the Procurement team to integrate technical considerations into category strategies, supplier selection, and long-term relationship management.
  • Participate in cross-functional reviews for design changes, engineering issues, and risk assessments impacting supply chain capability.
  • Regular travel within the UK and occasionally Europe is required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience in a similar manufacturing engineering or technical supply chain role in the defence, maritime, or high-integrity engineering sector.
  • Degree/HNC/HND in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of high-complexity manufacturing processes (such as machining, fabricated assemblies, PCBAs, welding, coatings, NDT, composites).
  • Skilled in interpreting technical drawings, GD&T, materials specifications, and quality/process standards.
  • Stakeholder management and negotiation skills to build customer and supplier relationships at all levels.
  • Familiar with ERP/MRP systems and supply chain practices.
  • The successful candidate will need to achieve relevant security vetting level status required for the role.
