We are currently looking for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our Plant in East Lothian, conveniently located within commuting distance of Edinburgh and surrounding areas. Main Responsibilities
- Act as a key member of the 24/7 Maintenance team, focusing on electrical and process control equipment across the plant within a large-scale continuous process manufacturing environment.
- Respond to plant breakdowns, fault finding, restoring equipment to service safely, and supporting operational reliability across the site.
- Prioritise safety at all times, demonstrating a strong understanding of health, safety and environmental standards, electrical isolations, permit systems and safe working practices within a heavy industrial environment.
- Respond to electrical breakdowns and carry out fault finding, diagnostics and repairs on plant equipment in a safe and timely manner.
- Apply existing knowledge or quickly develop expertise in a wide range of equipment, including instrumentation, PLCs, DCS/SCADA systems, LV & HV motors, switchgear, motor control centres, control gear, AC & DC systems, variable speed drives, industrial communications systems and specialised control panels.
- Carry out systematic electrical fault finding across power, control and process systems within a live production environment.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance and routine inspections during shift periods.
- Assist operations teams in identifying and resolving plant reliability and process issues.
- Support shutdown activities and major maintenance works across the site.
- Work across a large industrial site including outdoor plant areas, substations, elevated structures and dusty process environments.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate plant issues effectively during shift handovers using modern mobile CMMS systems.
- Be flexible within a shift pattern and support operational requirements during breakdown and shutdown situations.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience as a trained Electrical Maintenance Engineer.
- Experience within a heavy industrial or continuous process manufacturing environment would be beneficial.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic capability within a live production environment.
- Experience with PLCs, industrial control systems and process instrumentation.
- Experience working on HV/LV systems, motors, drives, switchgear and MCCs.
- Understanding of electrical safety rules, permit-to-work systems and isolation procedures.
- Ability to work calmly and effectively under operational pressure.
- Strong team-working skills with the ability to work independently during shift operations.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with production and maintenance teams.
Desirable Experience
- Siemens PLC or DCS experience.
- Experience with inverter drives.
- Experience with Profibus, Profinet or industrial communications systems.
- Experience working within a maintenance environment.
