Escape Recruitment is working with a well-established engineering client based in Dundee who are looking to add an experienced Design Engineer to their growing technical team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking business involved in the design and manufacture of highly engineered mechanical components used in demanding applications across global markets. You'll be joining a collaborative and supportive engineering team where innovation, precision, and quality are key.

What you'll be doing:

  • Collaborating with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure project specifications, timelines and technical requirements are fully understood and delivered.
  • Producing detailed engineering documentation including manufacturing drawings, calculations, specifications, and procedural documentation.
  • Taking ownership of your design work and contributing to peer reviews by checking and validating colleagues' drawings and calculations.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and supporting their development through knowledge sharing and training.
  • Providing technical input and solutions throughout all stages of the design process, from concept to manufacture.
  • Attending cross-functional meetings, training sessions, site visits, and audits as required to support the wider engineering and business objectives.
  • Continuously reviewing your performance and contributing to process improvements, ensuring project milestones are met and efficiencies are achieved.
  • Working additional hours when required to avoid project delays or missed targets.
  • Maintaining and developing professional registration, working towards IEng or CEng status within two years of joining the company.

What we're looking for:

  • A degree-qualified Design Engineer with at least two years' experience in a manufacturing environment using CAD.
  • Proficiency in 2D drafting, 3D modelling, and experience using FEA tools such as ANSYS.
  • A good understanding of engineering standards, quality systems (e.g. ISO9001), and design practices in a regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and design for manufacture principles.
  • Experience designing mechanical components or systems to industry standards (e.g. API/ASME) would be advantageous, but not essential.
  • Ability to manage your workload independently while also working collaboratively in a team-oriented setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and a creative approach to solving technical challenges.
