A growing FMCG manufacturing business has created a new role for a Planning Team Leader to take ownership of production planning, materials control and stock management across a fast-paced manufacturing operation. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on, improving processes and bringing structure to a busy environment. The business is looking for someone with a strong character who can challenge the status quo, introduce better ways of working and help drive operational performance across the site.
The Role
- Managing day-to-day production planning and materials control activities
- Creating and communicating daily production schedules
- Raising production orders and supporting factory operations across a 7‑day operation
- Managing raw material and packaging stock levels to support customer demand
- Placing purchase orders and supplier call‑offs
- Supporting stock reconciliation, stock counts and inventory accuracy
- Monitoring stock availability while reducing waste and obsolete stock risk
- Supporting new product launches and supplier set up within the ERP system
- Maintaining and updating operational master data and BOM information
- Supporting seasonal peaks, promotional activity and changing customer demand
- Working closely with operations, customer care, sales and suppliers
- Attending daily production meetings and driving planning improvements
- Identifying opportunities to improve planning processes, communication and efficiencies
Experience and knowledge
- Experience within planning, scheduling or materials control in a fast‑paced FMCG manufacturing environment
- Food manufacturing experience would be highly advantageous
- Strong systems and analytical skills
- Someone confident challenging processes and implementing improvements
- Comfortable working in a busy manufacturing environment where priorities can change quickly
- Good stock control and inventory management understanding
- Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships across departments
- Experience using ERP systems such as Business Central or Navision would be beneficial
- Previous supervisory or team leadership exposure is helpful, but this role is far more about attitude, ownership and operational strength than managing a large team
