Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineering Supervisor, Project Manager or Senior Engineer ready to take the next step into operational leadership? I'm working with a fantastic business looking for a Deputy Operations Manager to support the Area Manager across engineering operations, project delivery, customer relationships and team leadership. This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll be involved in projects, people, customers, engineering solutions and commercial delivery rather than being stuck behind a desk.

A little about the company… I've worked closely with this business over the last 12 months as they've continued to grow and expand, successfully recruiting six people across different departments, all of whom are still with the business and have nothing but positive things to say about their experience. I've got to know the hiring manager well during that time, and they're genuinely approachable, have a great sense of humour and are brilliant to work with. It's always nice to recruit for a business where you can confidently speak about the people and culture from your own experience!

What will you be doing?

  • Leading engineering and project teams
  • Planning and delivering engineering projects
  • Supporting team performance, development and progression
  • Building strong customer relationships and providing technical advice
  • Managing project schedules, Gantt charts and resources
  • Overseeing project costs, quotations and P&L
  • Carrying out site inspections and overseeing project delivery
  • Ensuring risk assessments and health and safety requirements are met
  • Supporting contractual requirements, including NEC3
  • Managing both reactive and scheduled engineering work

What are we looking for?

  • An Engineering Degree, HND or equivalent practical experience
  • Previous team leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong commercial awareness and customer-facing skills
  • Knowledge of NEC3 contracts
  • A full UK driving licence

Who might this suit?

Someone currently working as a Senior Engineer, Project Engineer, Engineering Supervisor, Engineering Manager or Project Manager who wants to broaden their responsibilities and develop into a more operational and commercially focused leadership role.
