We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our Engineering Team at a large UK-based manufacturing operation. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to play a key role in delivering capital projects and driving continuous improvement in a fast‑paced environment in FMCG. This position is on the outskirts of Glasgow. Reporting to the Site Engineering Lead, you will lead engineering projects that improve safety, efficiency, reliability, and overall site performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and delivering capital engineering projects
- Ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
- Managing project budgets, timelines, and resources
- Coordinating internal teams and external contractors
- Communicating progress and risks to key stakeholders
- Supporting automation and process improvement initiatives
- Maintaining quality standards throughout project delivery
- Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification
Project values typically range from £50k to £5m.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Engineering qualification (apprentice-trained, ideally to degree level)
- Experience in project engineering or project management
- Strong understanding of CDM regulations and contractor control
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with engineering design software (e.g. AutoCAD, CAD/CAM)
- Strong organisational and self-management skills
Desirable:
- Experience delivering large-scale capital projects
- 18th Edition Certificate (Beneficial)
- Mentoring or coaching experience
- Knowledge of compliance and quality systems
