Based in East Lothian an exciting opportunity has arisen for a

Project Engineer to join an established industrial engineering team.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for specifying and implementing site improvement projects, developing innovative solutions to plant and engineering issues, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, to the required quality standards, on time and within budget.

You will work closely with plant colleagues, contractors and project teams to ensure effective scoping, planning, implementation and integration of projects into day-to-day operations.

You will also act as a front-line contractor supervisor on your own projects and wider strategic site projects, providing both health and safety oversight and subject matter expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop project proposals and plans, establishing timescales, limitations, procedures and requirements.
  • Take ownership of the planning and delivery process for assigned projects.
  • Manage project issues and escalations through to resolution.
  • Supervise and motivate project teams to ensure successful delivery.
  • Provide regular project health reports and reviews as part of the wider project portfolio.
  • Support post-implementation reviews and ensure lessons learned are incorporated into future projects.
  • Support responses to internal and external compliance audits and investigations.
  • Promote strong health and safety performance and behaviours across project teams and contractors.
  • Deliver clear and effective toolbox talks and serious-event reviews.
  • Ensure appropriate safety and housekeeping standards are maintained across projects, in line with legal requirements and company procedures.
  • Deputise for the Project Manager when required.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement initiatives.
