Escape Recruitment is working with a well-established engineering business in South Lanarkshire that designs and manufactures advanced handling and automation equipment for global industries. With a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and customer focus, the company operates internationally while maintaining its roots and manufacturing base in the West of Scotland.

The Role

You’ll join the Controls Engineering and R&D team, responsible for specifying, programming, and commissioning control systems for a range of bespoke machinery. This hands‑on role involves working from initial design through to installation and commissioning at customer sites worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop control systems for new and existing equipment.
  • Configure, program, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and other control components.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams to integrate control systems.
  • Conduct system testing and verification to ensure compliance with performance and safety standards.
  • Support system installations, commissioning, and customer training on site.

About You

  • HND or degree in Electrical, Controls, or related engineering discipline.
  • Experience in control system design and implementation.
  • Strong PLC and HMI programming experience (ideally Siemens TIA Portal or Rockwell Studio 5000).
  • Familiarity with functional safety standards (ISO 13849).
  • Confident problem‑solver with strong communication and practical commissioning skills.

Knowledge of electrical CAD software (ePlan), analogue electronics, or hydraulic systems would be an advantage.
