Escape Recruitment is working with a well-established manufacturing business in Ayrshire that is investing heavily in its laboratory and quality capabilities. As part of this growth, they are looking to appoint a QA Microbiologist to support the introduction of in-house microbiological testing.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with commercial microbiology laboratory experience who enjoys a varied, hands-on role within a manufacturing environment. Graduates with a relevant industrial placement are also encouraged to apply.

The Role

Reporting into the Quality team, you'll be responsible for carrying out microbiological testing across raw materials, environmental samples and finished products, helping to ensure products meet the highest quality and regulatory standards. Duties will include:

  • Microbiological testing of raw materials, environmental and finished product samples
  • Identifying bacteria, yeast and mould contamination
  • Environmental monitoring and hygiene testing
  • Preparing media and laboratory reagents
  • Recording, analysing and reporting test results
  • Investigating out of specification results
  • Supporting laboratory validation activities
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment and consumable stocks
  • Working closely with the wider Quality and Laboratory teams
  • Supporting continuous improvement within the laboratory

About You

We're interested in candidates who have:

  • A degree in Microbiology, Biological Sciences or a related discipline
  • Commercial laboratory experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of microbiological testing techniques
  • Good laboratory documentation and reporting skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • The right to work in the UK without sponsorship

Graduates who have completed a substantial industrial placement within a commercial laboratory are also encouraged to apply.
