An established FMCG manufacturer is looking to appoint a Development Chemist to join its Technical NPD team in Irvine. This is a hands-on formulation role, responsible for taking products from initial lab development through to manufacturing scale-up and market launch. The position focuses on product development and formulation ownership, not a QC or analytical chemistry role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimise formulations for formulated FMCG products
  • Manage NPD projects from lab through pilot and full-scale manufacture
  • Support existing product ranges and deliver new formulations to agreed timelines
  • Lead feasibility assessments to support tenders and quotations
  • Oversee stability testing, specifications and launch readiness
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and GMP requirements
  • Work cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, QA and SHE

Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemistry or related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in formulation development
  • Proven experience of manufacturing scale-up in an FMCG environment
  • Strong project management and commercial awareness
  • GMP experience essential
