A large and well-established Higher Education institution in Falkirk is looking for an experienced Public Sector Procurement professional to head up its procurement team. This is a varied role covering Estates, Facilities Management, ICT and Professional Services, with responsibility for managing procurement activity from tender through to contract management. You will work closely with stakeholders across the Institution, providing practical procurement advice and supporting the delivery of their procurement needs. You will also manage a small team providing support, guidance and mentoring.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
- Lead end-to-end tendering and procurement activity across a range of categories
- Develop category strategies and manage supplier relationships
- Manage contract negotiation, implementation and ongoing contract management
- Provide procurement advice and guidance to stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with Scottish and UK procurement legislation
- Contribute to sustainable and socially responsible procurement initiatives
- Work closely with colleagues and wider sector procurement groups
Experience and knowledge required for the role:
- Strong knowledge of Scottish/UK procurement legislation
- Experience managing regulated tender processes
- Contract negotiation and management experience
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Good commercial awareness and analytical ability
- CIPS membership or working towards this would be advantageous
