Build your career with a market leader in heavy engineering. My client has been designing and manufacturing metal recycling machinery since 1872. With over 30,000 machines operating worldwide, they are growing the service team and looking for skilled engineers who want variety, responsibility, and the chance to work on complex industrial equipment across the UK and beyond. This is not a static workshop role.

You'll be out in the field solving real engineering problems:

  • Travelling across the UK (and occasionally overseas) in a company van
  • Installing, commissioning, and repairing heavy recycling machinery
  • Working on equipment such as shears, balers, granulators, cable strippers, and casting systems
  • Fault‑finding across hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems
  • Supporting customers on‑site and building strong working relationships

When you're not travelling, you'll be based at the Nottingham facility:

  • Refurbishing pre‑owned machinery
  • Maintaining equipment in the demonstration yard

You’ll start with a 3‑6 month onboarding period at the Nottingham site to get fully familiar with the machines and systems before heading out independently. We’re after practical, hands‑on engineers who enjoy problem‑solving and working independently.

Essential:

  • Experience with mechanical and hydraulic systems
  • Basic electrical skills (motors, control panels, fault finding)
  • Welding experience
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
  • Confidence dealing with customers on‑site

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience with recycling, mining, conveyors, or similar heavy machinery
  • Pneumatics knowledge
  • Forklift licence

£45,000 starting salary, increasing after probation. Clear progression up to £56,000+.

Benefits:

  • Company van and travel opportunities (UK + international)
  • Company pension
  • Long‑term career with a stable, well‑established manufacturer

If you’re the kind of engineer who prefers fixing real‑world machinery over sitting behind a desk – and you want variety, travel, and responsibility – this is a strong opportunity to step into a growing, specialist field.
