Are you an experienced electrically biased engineer who enjoys leading from the front rather than sitting behind a desk? Our client, one of the UK's best-known food manufacturers, is looking for a hands-on Lead Engineer to take ownership of an engineering shift within their high-volume manufacturing site in Nottingham. The Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you'll lead the engineering team on shift while remaining hands-on with maintenance activities. Responsibilities include:
- Leading and motivating a team of engineers
- Coordinating planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdowns
- Fault finding across electrical, mechanical and control systems
- Driving equipment reliability and continuous improvement
- Supporting production to maximise plant performance
- Ensuring the highest standards of Health & Safety, Food Safety and GMP
- Coaching and developing engineers within your team
The role combines technical expertise with leadership and plays a key part in maintaining site performance.
We're looking for someone with:
Essential
- Completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship (time served)
- Electrically biased engineer with good mechanical competence
- Experience with control engineering and fault finding
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience leading or supervising an engineering team
- At least 5 years' experience within FMCG manufacturing
Desirable
- HNC/HND in Engineering
- Food manufacturing experience
