Equitas is proud to be working in partnership with a forward-thinking state secondary school in Tameside in their search for an exceptional Head of Department for Computer Science and Business Studies, starting in September 2025.
The TLR Role
As Head of Department, you will lead a dynamic and developing department, overseeing the delivery of both Computer Science and Business Studies across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will be responsible for driving high standards in teaching and learning, curriculum development, and student outcomes, while supporting and mentoring your team to excel.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the department, ensuring a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement
- Oversee the planning, delivery, and assessment of Computer Science and Business Studies curriculum
- Monitor and evaluate teaching quality and student progress
- Line manage and support staff within the department
- Contribute to whole-school improvement as a member of the extended leadership team
- Stay up-to-date with educational best practices and implement innovative approaches to teaching and learning
The Ideal Candidate
- A qualified teacher with QTS and proven experience teaching Computer Science and/or Business Studies
- Experience in a leadership or middle leadership role within a secondary school setting
