This role is a Design Quality Engineer / Engineering Checker responsible for ensuring engineering output is accurate, consistent and compliant with customer specifications, internal standards and statutory regulations. Suited to an experienced mechanical engineering professional from a sheet metal or steel fabrication background, the position requires strong attention to detail, excellent knowledge of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes, and a proactive approach to quality and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and approve 3D models, engineering drawings, BOMs and technical documentation for accuracy, manufacturability and compliance with standards.
- Carry out tolerance stack analysis checks to ensure products remain functional, compliant and manufacturable.
- Maintain and improve engineering drawing standards in line with BS 8888:2017 and ISO 9001 procedures.
- Support the reduction of NCRs and drawing-related errors through detailed checking processes and constructive feedback to engineers.
- Collaborate with engineering, production and commercial teams to support project delivery and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in reviewing and approving Technical Engineering drawings.
- Degree or HNC/HNC qualified with strong industry experience in metal fabrication.
- Experience using 2D/3D packages.
- QA/QC skills, raising NCRs and excellent eye for detail.
- Understanding of BS 8888:2017 Technical Product Documentation standard.
Location: Bolton Permanent, Full Time – 4-day week.
Working Hours: Monday-Thursday, 37 hours per week.
Pay Rate: £20 - £48.50 per hour (dependent on experience) – PAYE Contract (6 months).
