ES Global is a world‑leading specialist in temporary structures and event overlay, delivering large‑scale live environments for major sporting, cultural and public events across the UK and internationally. We are now recruiting an experienced Health & Safety Manager, ideally based in Glasgow, to support the safe delivery of multiple major event venues across the city this summer. This is a fixed‑term contract role running from 1st July to 11th August 2026, with some flexibility on dates depending on venue requirements. There are no ongoing or permanent opportunities attached to this position.

THE ROLE

As Health & Safety Manager, you will act as the lead safety authority across several large temporary construction and event overlay venues in Glasgow. You will collaborate with Project Managers, Site Managers, Construction Managers and Supervisory Crew to ensure all activities are planned, delivered and monitored in line with legislation, best practice and ES Global’s established safety standards. This is a fast‑paced, hands‑on position requiring strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills and experience managing safety in complex, multi‑contractor environments.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Lead daily site safety management across multiple venues
  • Conduct inspections, audits and active monitoring throughout build and dismantle phases
  • Review and approve RAMS, lift plans, WAH controls and technical documentation
  • Support Supervisory Crew with safe execution of structural, scaffold and temporary works
  • Participate in and deliver Daily Activity Briefings (DABs)
  • Monitor high‑risk activities including WAH, plant movement, lifting ops and material handling
  • Ensure PPE compliance and safe systems of work are adhered to at all times
  • Manage reporting, investigation and close‑out of incidents and near misses
  • Liaise with client H&S teams, authorities and other contractors
  • Maintain accurate safety records, logs and statutory documentation
  • Drive a proactive safety culture across all venues

KEY HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure compliance with UK H&S legislation, CDM Regulations and company policies
  • Confirm that WAH controls, fall‑prevention systems and rescue plans are properly implemented
  • Monitor crew welfare, including heat exposure, fatigue and hydration
  • Communicate emergency procedures and ensure first aid arrangements are understood
  • Intervene and stop work where unsafe conditions or behaviours occur
  • Encourage open reporting and support continuous improvement
  • Maintain a strong, visible presence across all work areas

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (essential)
  • Proven experience as a Health & Safety Manager on events overlay or temporary structure projects
  • Strong working knowledge of UK H&S legislation and CDM
  • Experience overseeing WAH, lifting operations, scaffold systems and temporary structures
  • Confident communicator able to influence behaviours and engage with diverse teams
  • Ability to interpret RAMS, drawings and technical documentation
  • Calm, structured approach when working under pressure
  • Event overlay experience (highly desirable)
  • Ideally based locally within the Glasgow area

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a site‑based, hands‑on role across multiple high‑profile venues within Glasgow. Work will take place indoors and outdoors, in busy environments and in varying weather conditions. The contract runs from 1st July to 11th August 2026, with some flexibility dependent on venue schedules. Working hours may vary, with early starts, extended shifts and weekend work required to meet programme demands.
