We are looking for customer-focused and enthusiastic SQL Administrator to join our Infrastructure and Tools Team. Day to day tasks include expert troubleshooting for SQL managed service issues and providing administration and maintenance covering core DBA activities. You must have good understanding and experience of implementing database maintenance plans, backup schedules, performance tuning and monitoring for a range of corporate applications. You will also be responsible for periodically testing the integrity of backups as part of the organisation’s disaster recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Management plans. The ideal candidate will possess good written and verbal communication skills and be willing to collaborate with the wider IT support teams.
This position is based on a security cleared site so holding valid DV clearance or SC clearance would be advantageous. If you currently hold no clearance you must be eligible and willing to undertake clearance.
Essential Knowledge or Skills:- Experience in Database Administration in SQL Server versions 2005 to 2016
- Strong knowledge on Windows Domain Infrastructure Server versions 2003 to 2012
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues, reporting services, etc.
- Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention.
- Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Clustering, Database mirroring, Replication.
- Strong knowledge of how indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, patching. How statistics work, how indexes are stored, how they can be created and managed effectively.
- SQL Development – ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design (stored procs, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints)
