We are currently looking for highly customer-focused and enthusiastic IT Deskside Support Engineer with a genuine interest in solving peoples IT issues to support users based in Aldershot. The successful candidate should be technically competent, possess good communication skills and be willing to collaborate with the wider IT support teams.
You will be responsible for onsite technical services providing support services including:
- Deskside Software support
- IMACD
- Onsite printer support
- Hands and Eyes support
- T&M services
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- To provide 2nd line support for all hardware and software IT-related issues and incidents.
- To provide high-quality, highly visible desk side and floor-walking support functions to the customer and log such activities through the call systems as work is completed.
- To install pre-defined computer ‘images’ onto desktop and laptop computers in the case of a serious system failure.
- To install or re-install any applications onto PCs in line with installation procedures.
- To perform diagnostic services using all available resources, including the use of other customer-based and external support parties.
- To perform hardware break fix on PCs, Laptops and Printers or manage hardware repair through the customer defined warranty routes.
- Update call management systems with relevant notes to aid the customer, the end-user, other teams, and other members within our own team with resolutions, customer updates and escalations.
- Installation of IT hardware; printers, PCs, switches, servers, cabinets, etc.
- Provide patching services both from floor to desktop equipment and within the comms room and perform cabling diagnostic services.
- Work collaboratively with other teams where incidents and service requests require cross-functional activities.
- Hands and eyes activities including hosting of third party engineers.
Essential Skills:
- SC Security Cleared or ability to be cleared
- A broad technical knowledge of PCs/peripherals and their architecture
- Previous experience in desktop support/hardware refreshes
- Good working knowledge of current software packages
- Good working knowledge of operating systems
- Accredited in relevant manufacturers hardware qualification
- Good understanding of IT infrastructure
- Ability to work on own initiative, address and resolve problems in a pressurised environment
- Ability to diagnose faults in the hardware/software/operating systems used by the customer
- Excellent organisational skills, able to take a methodical approach to service issues
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
