A leading Tier 1 contractor is seeking a freelance Quantity Surveyor to support a busy highways maintenance and heavy civils division based in Ipswich. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior to mid-level QS with around 3–5 years’ experience looking to gain exposure on major infrastructure and maintenance frameworks. The successful candidate will support the commercial team with a strong focus on processing claims, subcontractor accounts, valuations, and general commercial administration across ongoing highways and civils works.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing and managing compensation events, variations, and claims
- Assisting with subcontractor management and payments
- Supporting monthly valuations and cost reporting
- Reviewing applications for payment and commercial documentation
- Assisting senior commercial staff with contract administration
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and forecasts
- Working closely with operational and project delivery teams
- Supporting the commercial management of highways maintenance works and civils packages
Requirements
- Approximately 3–5 years’ experience within Quantity Surveying
- Background within construction, infrastructure, heavy civils, or highways projects
- Highways maintenance experience would be highly advantageous
- Good understanding of commercial processes and contract administration
- Experience processing claims / variations is preferred
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Able to work within a fast-paced project environment
- Degree qualified or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management preferred
