As a Project Manager within Our client's Energy Division, you will lead the delivery of essential infrastructure projects across electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and customer connection frameworks. You will oversee projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
This role typically supports major clients including National Grid, SSE, UKPN, and SSEN, across a portfolio of Electrical Transmission, Distribution, and Substation Build projects ranging from 11kV to 400kV.
Key Responsibilities- Lead multidisciplinary construction and engineering teams through endâtoâend project delivery, ensuring alignment across civil, M&E, and commercial workstreams.
- Deliver projects to agreed time, cost, quality, and safety requirements.
- Drive a cohesive project team ethos across Construction Managers, Commercial Managers, Design Leads, and Project Engineers.
- Provide strong safety leadership, including preparation and oversight of Health & Safety Plans, Method Statements, and Risk Assessments.
- Maintain the highest standards of HSEQ performance and ensure compliance with M Group procedures and UK legislation.
- Work closely with planning teams to develop and monitor delivery programmes.
- Plan and schedule current and future works, ensuring resource availability and programme accuracy.
- Lead project risk management and ensure timely resolution of technical and contractual issues.
- Support preparation of monthly CVRs and ensure projects meet or exceed commercial targets.
- Manage subcontractor procurement and performance.
- Apply working knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial governance.
- Build strong relationships with clients through progress meetings, audits, and formal communications.
- Maintain clear communication with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment across project phases.
- Resolve design and technical issues encountered during delivery.
- Ensure CDM compliance and support Principal Contractor responsibilities when required.
- Proven experience managing energy/utility projects, ideally across electrical transmission and distribution (11kV-400kV).
- Strong understanding of HV networks, substations, switchgear, and utility construction environments.
- Experience with NEC contract frameworks and commercial management.
- Ability to manage a portfolio of complex projects and deliver measurable outcomes.
- Excellent communication and relationshipâbuilding skills.
- Strong planning, budgeting, estimating, and costâcontrol capability, including CVR work.
- Competent user of digital tools and project management software.
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
- Project management certification (e.g., APM, PRINCE2) preferred.
- SMSTS or equivalent safety certification.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel frequently.
