The Planning Manager leads project planning activity across electricity Transmission and Distribution projects in the South and South-West. The role is responsible for developing and maintaining integrated schedules, ensuring visibility of delivery performance, and supporting safe, efficient completion of multiple infrastructure projects.
Core Responsibilities
- Build and manage programme and project schedules using recognised planning tools.
- Maintain baselines, monitor progress, forecast outcomes and analyse critical paths.
- Coordinate planning inputs across design, procurement, access, construction and commissioning.
- Drive governance standards including reporting cycles, change control and risk/schedule assurance.
- Produce regular performance reports, highlight variances and communicate delivery impacts.
- Mentor planners and support collaboration between project, commercial, engineering and delivery teams.
- Interface with clients, supply chain partners and regulatory stakeholders.
Required Experience & Skills
- Planning background in utilities, construction or major infrastructure.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6 (or similar software).
- Understanding of power distribution, transmission, substations or associated civil works.
- Ability to integrate planning with cost, risk and change controls.
- Clear communication skills and the confidence to influence delivery decisions.
