About the role
ERSG is seeking a Legal & Contracts Advisor to join its Legal & Compliance team within a successful international recruitment business specialising in the renewable energy sector. Reporting to a Senior member of the Legal team, this is an individual contributor role with no line management, ideally suited to someone with circa 2–4 years’ relevant legal or contracts experience.
The role involves supporting global ERSG entities through the drafting, review and negotiation of commercial and recruitment‑related contracts, advising on risk and commercial terms, and working closely with internal stakeholders and clients. The ideal candidate will be highly accurate, well organised, fast‑learning and motivated, with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, and will benefit from the support of an established and collaborative Legal & Compliance team within a dynamic and engaging business culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Drafting, Review & Negotiation
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiation of client contracts for both temporary assignments and permanent positions, supporting new business across the global ERSG entities.
- Identify risks and proposing compliant amendments in line with relevant legislation and regulations.
- Ensure all contracts follow the appropriate internal sign-off and approval processes, advising Business Managers on commercial terms and implications.
- Manage post-execution contract activities, including amendments, variations and ongoing contractual compliance.
- Draft, review and negotiate: Standard and non-standard client contracts, Candidate and contractor contracts, including with independent contractors, PSCs and suppliers, Other commercial and operational agreements in line with business guidelines.
- Risk Assessment & Advisory Support
- Review and advise the business on contractual terms, highlighting risks, explaining implications and proposing solutions aligned with established legal processes.
- Prepare risk assessments and summaries of agreed terms for leadership team authorisation.
- Protect the business by ensuring ERSG’s role, responsibilities and risk profile are accurately reflected in contractual documentation.
- Develop and apply an in-depth understanding of supply chain structures and key commercial and legal terms when negotiating agreements.
- Stakeholder & Client Engagement
- Work closely with internal stakeholders across sales, marketing, finance and operations to facilitate, negotiate and finalise transactions.
- Clearly communicate Legal’s position and approach to internal teams and externally where required.
- Liaise with clients to amend operational or legal terms during the lifecycle of engagements.
- Contract Management & Process
- Plan, manage and progress matters independently, ensuring priorities and deadlines are met.
- Uphold best practice contract review standards, including proper approvals and accurate documentation of decision-making.
- Record and track contractual amendments appropriately within contracts and systems.
- Support effective filing practices and assist with the implementation and use of AI-powered contract management systems.
Skills & Experience
- Degree-level education, ideally a Law degree (or equivalent qualification/experience).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Legal Advisor, Contracts Advisor or similar commercial legal role.
- Strong understanding of contract law and experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Experience within a recruitment agency or professional services environment is desirable.
- Experience using Ironclad or similar AI-powered contract lifecycle management or contract review tools is highly desirable.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office and confident working with legal and contract management systems.
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise workload and perform under pressure and tight deadlines.
*This role would be based onsite 4 days per week with the option of 1 day a week from home*
