HV Substation Design Approval Engineer (Contract) Responsibilities Act as the technical authority for reviewing and approving high-voltage and extra-high-voltage substation design packages. Ensure primary electrical designs comply with applicable transmission standards, project specifications, and engineering best practice. Review, verify, and approve engineering drawings, calculations, technical reports, and design documentation before submission. Lead the delivery of primary plant designs for AIS, GIS, and HV substations throughout the project lifecycle. Produce and review general arrangement drawings, equipment layouts, section drawings, and associated technical documentation. Manage design revisions, assess engineering changes, and ensure all modifications are accurately documented and technically justified. Review vendor documentation and confirm selected equipment is suitable for the intended application.
