As a Senior Procurement & Commercial Manager or Head of Procurement & Commercial within a major UK infrastructure delivery organisation, you will lead the procurement and post-contract commercial management of large-scale transmission and capital infrastructure programmes.

You will play a key leadership role in delivering commercial value, ensuring robust governance, and supporting the successful execution of nationally significant infrastructure projects. This role requires a hands-on commercial leader capable of managing complex procurement and contract management activities across the full project lifecycle.

Key Accountabilities

  • Reporting to the Director of Procurement & Commercial, acting as a senior hands-on commercial leader
  • Full commercial ownership and accountability for the delivery of one or more major infrastructure projects valued in excess of £1bn
  • Leading disciplined cost control, commercial governance, and accurate forecasting
  • Developing and implementing commercial and contracting strategies, and executing end-to-end procurement activities
  • Managing contracts in accordance with established governance frameworks and organisational objectives
  • Leading strategic supplier and contractor relationship management to ensure optimal commercial outcomes
  • Working as a key member of multi-disciplinary project teams to support successful infrastructure delivery

Requirements

  • Extensive experience as a senior commercial practitioner within major infrastructure or capital projects (not solely people management)
  • Proven experience delivering the commercial aspects of large-scale infrastructure projects (£1bn+) within the UK
  • Strong experience across both pre-contract procurement and post-contract commercial management
  • Deep knowledge and practical application of NEC contracts, including negotiation, risk management, and dispute resolution
  • Demonstrated experience managing suppliers, subcontractors, and complex commercial risk environments
  • A professional, dynamic, and delivery-focused approach to commercial leadership

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • MRICS, FRICS, or equivalent professional accreditation preferred
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to support strategic decision-making
  • Experience in claims preparation, management, and resolution
  • Proven ability to safeguard commercial and organisational objectives
