Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
- Membership of relevant professional organisation
- At least 5 years transport planning experience
- Knowledge and application of national, regional and local policy and design guidance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience of working with computer-based systems including Microsoft programmes
- Manage your own workload and delegate tasks
- Provide high-level initial feedback without benefit of technical assessments
- Ability to step in to assist projects you are not involved with; providing guidance, attending meetings, advising clients
Role Specific Requirements
- Write, check and on occasion approve technical reports such as Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and Technical Notes
- Prepare appeal documentation including Statement of Case and Statement of Common Ground
- Successfully project manage schemes, including budget and time management and requesting additional fees where required
- Excellent client/officer liaison and management
- Assist with training junior members of staff
- Ability to complete/review/approve planning drawing requirements, such as visibility splays, vehicle tracking diagrams, access designs etc with minimal changes
- Independent attendance at Public Consultation events, project team/client meetings, appeal meetings & Local Highway Authority meetings
- Prepare fee proposals and tenders for all project scales
- Good understanding of junction modelling packages, and methodologies to calculate trip generation and distributions, including 'Decide and Provide'
- Ability to identify and design mitigation schemes to overcome capacity, safety or active travel constraints
- Complete access appraisals; including ability to design a variety of access options and provide high level feedback to clients
- Be adaptable to assist team members and cover project responsibilities while other colleagues are away
- Contribution/S106 obligation discussions
